Members' rabbits Remembrance Roll 2008
The very worst part about having pets is losing them. Sometimes they have been our companions for just a short time, other times they have been our companions for many years. Whatever the situation, losing them can be very hard and often difficult to get over. This part of the website is dedicated to those rabbits who enriched our lives and have gone to live over Rainbow Bridge...
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal, any kind of animal, dies that has been especially close to someone , that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill or old are restored to good health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, someone who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent, his eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face, your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.

Bruno MacDonald 2001 - 2008
Our much loved Chief rabbit, Bruno, who passed away the day after his 7th birthday. Bruno had been poorly for a couple of years, but never let it get him down; he was still skipping and leaping about right to the end. Needless to say, he has left a huge hole in our lives, and Clover misses him dreadfully.

Ernie Baxter 2006 - 2008
For our lovely, loyal, affectionate little bunny Ernie who we rescued and had a loving and fun home until he died. We miss him loads.

Albert Collard 2003 - 2005
Albert was a very special bunny whose antics showed that he thought he was human! His owner of 4 years had to move to Ireland and was unable to take Albert. I had just got over losing Bun, my rabbit of 6 years who died suddenly of a seizure. I was devastated over Bun and thought I was in no state of mind to take on another rabbit so soon, but Albert's owner was desperate. As it turned out Albert was exactly the tonic I needed. Everyone who met him couldn't believe how friendly and human-like he was. He would follow me everywhere and do wonderful, funny tricks. His favourite treat was dog biscuits! I only had him for just under two years when he was struck down with E. Cuniculi. I took him to one of the best rabbit vets in the country, but tragically, after 2 weeks of battling to save his life, I lost my beloved Albert.
Albert, you brought sunshine into my life and you will never be forgotten. Hazel X
Blake McBride 2007 - 2008
Blake, my 4mth old Otter Rex, born december 2007 in Bedfordshire died today 23rd march 2008. He was a beautiful boy who was just starting out on his life with us. He had a tragic accident with his Hay rack and got his foot caught bless him. He died instantly.

Alfie Padel - Passed Away March 2008
Handsome boy Alfie who will be missed greatly by his loving family Ro, Jon and Tiggy as well as his many human and furry friends. Instead of the normal sending each other flowers we decided to collect the money and donate it to the RWAF to help other buns in memory of Alfie and Holly, below.
Holly Halliwell - Passed Away Feb 2008
Beautiful bunny girl Holly. Who will be missed terribly by her loving family Michaela, Haydn and Tinker and also by her many friends. Instead of the normal sending each other flowers we decided to collect the money and donate it to the RWAF to help other buns in memory of Holly and Alfie, above.
Muffin Gilbert - Sep 2002 - March 2008
Muffin was a very special bunny who was hand-reared from 2 days old. I'm sure that he thought I was his real Mum. Our guest bedroom was Muffin's Room, and you'd more often than not find him sprawled out in front of the radiator - relaxing! Muffin was always keen on a cuddle, and would lie in my arms - on his back, legs in the air – like a baby, for hours on end, snoozing furiously. He was always picky with his food but particularly enjoyed his daily allowance of parsley, and darted around my feet until he got his treat. His nimble footwork earned him the nickname "The Black Flash". We shall never forget him, and Rabbiting On readers might remember him from his early life story published in the magazine in 2003. Our beautiful baby boy Snuffy to
whom we said good bye on 25th May 2008.
We hope he had the best life a little bunny could have - he roamed around the house wherever he liked, followed us upstairs to bed at night and would be there waiting at the door in the morning - all so he could jump up into bed for a cuddle. If we had a
lie-in, you could be sure he would let us know about it by scrabbling at the
door until we gave in and acknowledged him!
He spent daytime asleep in his cozy bedroom, hidden away with a duvet and pillows covering his big hay & carpet bed. When Summer came, he liked to move into the front
bedroom where he would lay down and sunbathe. But he would always be there
waiting by the door when we came in from work ready to play and have the masses
of attention he so deserved.
We even took him on holiday in April to a lovely cottage in the country where the owners were good enough to understand he was a "house rabbit" and let him run round all weekend. Hay, peapods, coriander, extra special tendersweet carrots (!) and the occasional chocolate raisin, they were all his favourites and he would come running like a little dog and put on a show when he knew it was food time.
Snuffy had to go through 4 or 5 dental operations in his short life and was due another one on 29th May.
He was always such a strong little boy. It was as if he knew he would have
problems forever because his life ended with a sudden and tragic accident at
5.25am on 25th May when, during one of his mad, crazy runs, it appears that he
lost his way and flew into a closed door, causing so much damage to his little
brain, we had no choice but to let him sleep. One of the hardest decisions
we have ever had make.
We will love him and cherish his memories forever.
We'll miss you forever....miss you lying flat out with your chin on the floor waiting for your nose rubbed, miss you buzzing round all over the place looking for cuddles.

Rose Power Date of Birth Unknown - Passed Away July 2008
Rose was a rescue rabbit and the gentlest, most loving creature I have ever known. She had been left, weak and pregnant, in a box by some bins. Sadly, she lost her babies. She had a bad eye, cruelly clipped teeth, molar spurs, and a bad leg. I met her at the rescue in October 2006. It had been nearly two years since I'd had rabbits, having been bereaved twice within a year and still hurting. I only intended to be there as a volunteer, but she stole my heart at first meeting her. It took some time to finally find her a suitable companion, but Charlie joined her at Christmas 2007 and they got on beautifully from day one. Her eye problem became very bad recently, and despite best efforts, she died the day after an operation. I always had to chop her veg into tiny pieces because of her teeth, and it is not having to do little things like that anymore, which brings home the loss. How strangely empty the house feels without her presence. I always knew her departure would break my heart more than any other, as she was such a special girl, but I am so blessed to have known her and to have had the privilege of caring for her.

Tinker Halliwell - Passed Away July 2008
Gorgeous Boy Tinker who passed away peacefully. He will be missed terribly by his loving family, Michaela and Haydn, but he has gone to join his beloved Holly over the rainbow bridge. His many friends have made a donation to the RWF in his memory instead of sending flowers. He's left a huge hole in all of our lives.
